KALEY: Dog Stolen, Then Dumped, Soon Reunited

San Francisco – Animal Control officers are investigating the case of Kaley - an eight-year-old Chihuahua - found early Saturday morning in a Tenderloin dumpster. Kaley was in shock and suffering from serious injuries, including eight broken ribs and head trauma. She was transported by Animal Care & Control to its emergency veterinary hospital for treatment.

Kaley is an assistance dog that was reported stolen from her owner/guardian’s vehicle in August. A microchip found in Kaley helped Animal Care & Control staff locate her owner/guardian, Lucille Williams. Kaley is recovering at Animal Care & Control and is due to be reunited with Mrs. Williams at her home in San Francisco this afternoon.

Animal Control officers are seeking the community’s help to find the person(s) responsible for Kaley’s condition. Anyone with information that could help investigators is encouraged to call the Animal Care & Control emergency dispatch line at 415-554-9400. Callers may remain anonymous.

To assist with Kaley’s medical bills, donations can be made to the Friends of Animal Care & Control’s Emergency Medical Fund.
